HERDSHARE

Members-Only Access to Fresh, Raw Milk

Join the herdshare for bottled-to-order raw milk. Cream-top, non-homogenized, full-fat, and always fresh.

What's a Herdshare?

In Kentucky, selling raw milk directly to the public isn't permitted. But owning a share of a dairy herd — and receiving the milk your share produces — is perfectly legal. That's what a herdshare is.

You own part of the herd. When you purchase a herdshare, you become a partial owner of our Jersey cows. As an owner, you're entitled to the milk your share produces each week.

We care for the animals.
In exchange for a small monthly milking fee, Reed Family Dairy tends the herd, handles all milking, and prepares your milk for weekly pickup.

YEAR-ROUND SHARES

Cream-Top Raw Milk

Because our raw milk is non-homogenized, the cream rises to the top. Shake it to blend, or skim the cream for butter, coffee, or cooking.

Common Questions

A few things people usually ask.

Do I have to join the herdshare to access raw milk?

Yes. You purchase a share of ownership in the herd. As a part-owner, you are entitled to the milk your share produces. It's the legal way to access raw milk in Kentucky.

Is raw milk safe?

It depends on how it's produced. Clean farms with healthy, pasture-raised cows produce clean milk. The risks associated with raw milk come from industrial dairies — that's not what we do. We're happy to walk you through our practices in detail.

I'm lactose intolerant. Can I drink this?

Many people who struggle with conventional dairy find they tolerate raw, grass-fed A2/A2 milk well. The natural enzymes aid digestion, and A2 protein is easier for many people to process. We can't make promises, but a lot of our members are pleasantly surprised.
